Daytona Delight

Beach wedding at it’s best. People from the Midwest, friendly, relaxed crowd. More and more couple prefer having a destination wedding now-days, with limited number or guests and everything at the same location type of deal. Less complicated, less expensive  than a full fledged wedding let’s say …. in Chicago. If the family has a nice beach house or condo in Florida even better.

The other day we had an engagement photo session in Bok Tower Gardens. It is one my favorite places to photograph, a visually very stimulating location. Equally nice to the ears too, the carillion music and beautiful scenery have a fantastic de-stressing effect on the soul. The young couple I photographed there was a perfect fit: balance, connection, beauty.

A little piece of India

March 29, 2009 | Filed Under Photo Impressions | 1 Comment

One of my favorite places in the world is India. Mysterious, undefined, ancient and modern. A year or so ago I posted on this blog some of my photo impressions of this land of extremes.    BTW, if you want to see a good movie check out the Oscar winner Slum Dog Millionaire. One of the most visually stimulating movie I’ve ever seen. Before I digress too much….. Recently, I have photographed a beautiful Hindu wedding, here in the US.  Beautiful bride, plenty of time, cooperative clients.

Brrrrrr! Welcome to Florida….

For a few days we had some unusually cold weather here. I took these photos on a very chilly morning.

How much more exciting it can get? Getting married and saying goodbye to 2008 the same day? St. Pete Beach (again…) Florida’s legendary Pink Palace the Don Ceasar Hotel. A professional couple, elegance and style but no time for the photographer. Short, concise and beautiful candlelight ceremony in the courtyard of Don Ceasar. Overall this wedding went like 2008: a lot of potential but unpredictable and challenging.

A Magical Place for Weddings

No folks, it is not Disney. ;-) Being a tree-hugger the Bok Sanctuary  is much closer to my heart and also to my house. Finally, after living in the Lake Wales FL area for years, I had the privilege to photograph a small, low key and very beautiful-spiritual wedding at this  special National Historic Landmark. It is a perfect place to admire and meditate, relax and propose, listen to your heart and the carillon. Super educated and helpful staff, great events throughout the year. Definitely a place to visit if you are in the area.

Jennifer and John had a remarkable wedding, this veteran photographer of weddings enjoyed it a lot. The ambiance, the strong yet not ostentatious connection of the two, no stress no fuss approach yielded a nice photo coverage. At their first date this lovely couple got lost in time while at the Bok Sanctuary, they stayed there after hours without noticing that all people and staff were gone….

Post wedding photo session with family and friends at the upscale Bonnet Creek Resort in the Lake Buena Vista area. Before the shoot I experienced a micro-climate democracy in action. There were a few disgruntled people protesting in front the entrance against the resort, meanwhile at the security gate the pretty Cuban guard woman was cheerfully dancing solo salsa  as people were checking in. Inside was a relaxed and happy atmosphere and so were my clients as well. Lovely couple from Detroit (lotsa snow now), enjoying themselves here for a few weeks.

Melbourne, Florida

Another beach wedding, this time on the East Coast of Florida, in Melbourne. The bride was originally from the DuPage county/Chicago area, the same region where I was a wedding photographer for fourteen years.  This lovely couple had an excellent choice for her wedding: Crown Plaza Hotel, all festivities at one location, right on the beach. Nice, well organized wedding, Sindy the Catering Manager of the venue kept us all on schedule.  Thank you Sindy. Short and sweet ceremony under dramatic skies. A quick walk on the beach around sunset, and voila’, the bride and groom were ready for their very elegant reception.

Craftfoods in Miami

November 8, 2008 | Filed Under Photo Impressions | Leave a Comment

For a change,  this week  I had a three day long corporate gig in Miami. Craftfoods, one of the largest multi-national food company entrusted Lightplays Photo to cover their managers meeting at the JW Marriott. It was an interesting experience. Not so much in terms of challenges of photography, rather the fact that I was able to see all the business presentations. The first time ever got a peek at how a large international company evaluate, plan, revise and execute it’s business. It was very interesting because I observed the different approaches of different national managers for a common goal. ($$, and a lot of it) Sometimes during the brake-out sessions things were said in Spanish that could not be repeated during the main presentations. Of course I was very low key and they never assumed that I understand Spanish. The presentation from a Morgan Stanley banker was also interesting, had an in depth view about the present economic situation and the global economy.  I hope that the clients will find the the photocoverage as interesting as I found their presentations.
